Believe it or not, in 2003 I pulled a Barry Bonds 1/1 out of a pack of 1999 Flair Showcase and was offered $5,000 for it on the spot.

Yes, I still have it.

While I admit some late 90s inserts are worth a lot of money... This is redonkulous.

It wouldn't surprise me if someone pays this much for this card. These as you know are pretty solid in the secondary market. The listing itself is what got me.

I wouldn't pay $5K to spend a week with Barry. Chris..sorry you missed out on the $5K.

Yeah 2016 olympics! WTF does that have to do with anything just one things related to this card? where it's being shipped from, oh yeah of course! that'a it well I'm in! Douche is such an understatement. Grant

Seriously? If there is one country on planet earth where people should not make fun of others for showing a bit of pride in their country it is the good old US of A. Deal with all your own patriotic, religious nutcases before you start having a go at others. How many American sellers say crap like "god bless our troops". Do you single them out as douches?

stusigpi said...

I do as a matter of fact. The god bless the usa, support our troops crap people put in their auctions is so lame.

Maybe I've missed it then.

when you get a chance can you point out an appropriate post to me?

You will notice that I didn't get on the guy for that, I was all about the needless use of the term needless and the fact that any idiot would pay $5k for this card as he says that he did. That's a dumbass moment for him. I wasn't posting about the olympic comment.

I have not posted specifically about people including their religious or political beliefs in their ads, nor was I here but just like when I read your snotty little demand for me to tell you which post I had done that in I do think "what a douche" So quit being such an up tight dick.

Um Alex I'm assuming your commenting on my post? Did you read it before you went on your politically correct country and religion rant that made no sense at all? Please read carefully I was simply stating that his comment about the card being shipped from an Olympic event in 2016 "whatever county that may be I would have mentioned it,no relevance to the card yeah? including "the good ole US of A your words" I said nothing about religion nothing about our troops and I'm pretty sure I have no problem with the county of Japan which I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure Rio De Janeiro, Brazil is hosting the olympics in 2016 just making sure your following my reasoning for posting my comment on a 5k card. So I suppose my little post makes me a religious fanatic nutcase I'm am clueless how you got that impression? so excuse my post for not meeting your obviously touchy feelings and highly skilled ability to spot fanatic nutcases on a baseball card blog. I just would love to see the view from that pedestal of yours. Go Brazil! Good luck Tokyo! I love the world do we feel better I do. I could go on but I really don't want to say anything becuase I'm pretty sure if I did you would find some hidden meaning in it and I'd became a racist or something. And justifying your comment by responding is giving me an international headache . Grant

Wow, what a response. I sure did get up some people's noses. I'm sure you won't be surprised to read that I have a habit of it.

Stusigpi: Notice I said "When you get a chance." I didn't demand that you show me, I asked. A subtle difference maybe, but s significant. Whether asking makes me an "up tight dick" I will leave up to you.

I said in my initial comment, referring to your post. "Do you single them out as douches?" You replied "I do as a matter of fact" which indicated to me that you had posted on it. That is why I asked. Needless to say (trying to lighten things up) you and I could have been clearer in our comments.

Grant: Yes, I was referring to your post and Stusigpi's. You had a go for a guy referring to his country as maybe hosting with 2016 olympics. As I pointed out there are more than enough American Ebay sellers who spout nationalistic drivel as bad as this or worse. Some of these are the fanatics. I said: "Deal with all your own patriotic, religious nutcases before you start having a go at others." AT NO POINT DID I STATE YOU WERE A FANATIC (thought I would put it in bold so I am clear and it can't be misread). My question (which you didn't answer)is do you refer to American nationalists/fanatcis as douche's too. Again I DON'T CALL YOU A FANATIC. All I know is you had a go at a guy for showing some pride in his country and I asked (admittedly not in the nicest way)do you do that to people from your own country, some of whom are religious nutcases. I don't know whether you fall into this category.

yes I in fact go at fanatics nutcases people with lack of common sense pretty much idiots across the board regardless of what country they come from. In this case I did not even come close to as you said "having a go atsomeone becuae they were proud of their counry", You would have no doubt in your mind that I was in fact a nutcase if I truly did. I believe my language would have been a tad more extreme, how do I say down right ugly. In fact I would guess the majority of the post ( blogs ) for trading cards are 70% + from the U.S. so it's safe to say a douche is a douche yeah? The problem here is You missed the whole point and meaning of the blog, Nowhere absolutely no where in my mind when I posted my comment was I even thinking of any certain country the point was what does a trading card selling on eBay have any value increase or decrease because it's being shipped from a possible 2016 Olympic event site. this has no influence on a damn trading card! I don't care whether it's being shipped from the vendor at the winter games in B.C. does that mean I hate canadians no, I don't think I do. If he was from Kansas or London whatever I would have said the same thing. This went way over your head and you went back and reached for some politically correct wording to cry about. Go to a rally or something. I don't know it's not for trading cards and if I had a nickel for every stupid EBay seller and a world righteousness watchdog such as yourself from ANYWHERE in the world I'd own half of EBay itself. thanks for making the topic so far off base now I've lost the whole point it's been fun and I have one more person to add to my 1st statement above. Sorry for the long response to Mr. Stusigpi. I should have left this one alone. BTW Alex I don't see anywhere in the EBay listing about the seller really saying anything patriotic about Japan just shipping it from a possible Olympic event which does not in my limited knowledge have anything to do with selling a card on EBay ( Are you following me does this make any sense to you as an EBay seller?). I don't put made in America being shipped from America as a bonus feature on my EBay auctions maybe I should this sure got you looking. Again sorry I just can't help the lack of common sense here and the assumptions. I'll be courteous now join the real world and get to my online bieng born in America Tolerence, awareness & judgement of the rest of the world class I decided to take thanks to Alex's inspiring comment and not take any more of this blogs time on this issue. Grant, after taking a while to decipher the jumble that was your last post, here is my response.

You initially said:

"Yeah 2016 olympics! WTF does that have to do with anything just one things related to this card?"

I said:

"How many American sellers say crap like "god bless our troops". Do you single them out as douches?"

You had a go at someone because for mentioning that the card was coming from a country that may host an Olympics. Why would he mention this in his post - because he had some pride in his couuntry and the fact that they may or may not host an olympics. Why else would he mention it? He doesn't say it's value "value increase or decrease because it's being shipped from a possible 2016 Olympic event site".

It is thus quite clear that you were having a go at someone for having some pride in their country. I said you should look in your own back garden before having a go at others for their patriotism. I asked if you make similar comments about people who say "god bless our troops" - again what does this have to do with card values? Do you in fact say "Yeah god bless our troops! WTF does that have to do with anything just one things related to this card?" (lovely grammer that, like all your posts).

Maybe you don't have a go at people who say "god bless our troops" because this doesn't fall into "your politically correct wording to cry about". Maybe your responses are because I have hit a nerve on the war/religion issue.

See one of the great things about the US is free speech. You can make a stupid comment, and I can then call you on your stupid comment.I didn't say you shouldn't make your comment, I said (in an admittedly belligerent way) you may want to look after your own garden before criticising other's gardens. However I suspect that you don't feel the same way, given your response:

"Go to a rally or something. I don't know it's not for trading cards and if I had a nickel for every stupid EBay seller and a world righteousness watchdog such as yourself from ANYWHERE in the world I'd own half of EBay itself."

which is shame, given how important freedom of speech is for fully functioning democracies, as opposed to military dictatroships or religious theocracies.
