Wow. I thought yesterday's Exquisite cards looked nice (though there is a bit too much foil on some), but these look even better. I hope Panini does a footbal version of this. With plenty of Favre cards of course
Jeff, any idea of what the history is with Crown Royale? It can't be the booze. It was a Pacific thing I think, but where did they get it?
Anyway, I like the look. Lets hope the cards look as good as the mock-ups. On-Card would be a plus, but would go against everything Panini stands for.
My complaint with them so far, other than the stickers, is that only one set has been done with game photo backgrounds. Everything is cropped. I like when in photos you can see who they are playing / dunking on / etc..
Alex, the crown royale cards were included in Limited this year as a sticker dump from last years rookie class.
Voluntarheel - yeah I know those cards. They did use the die cut crown, but I don't think they badged as Crown Royale.
Pacific actually put out a dedicated Crown Royale football set from 1995 to 2002 - they may have done it in other sports too. I always really liked them. The following link will show you some:

That Royalty patch card looks really slick.

The best I can tell is that Pacific came out with a version in 1995, just a regular insert set. No idea other than that.

I suspect that Panini must have bought the rights to the name, as it was a pacific set.
