Ginter is winning! Ok, it's only one vote. Ginter is the first thing I really went after when I got back into collecting.
It's not the same thing. I don't like the look of T206.
Ginter...I like the no-sports side of it as well as the design of the cards
Ginter. Forever Ginter. It's the best Topps set for 4 years now.
I loved A&G in 2008 but it was not very interesting in 2009. I voted 206 and stand by it.
Ginter without hesitation. THe cool mini inserts, and the beautiful relic & autos frames just make it so much nicer looking than 206. Oh, and rip cards, and 1/1 wood minis as well. Almost forgot the non-baseball checklist. Yeah, Ginter is loaded with cool shit, and 206 isn't.
Ginter: the design isn't washed out like T206. No annoying bronze parallel in the packs. The non-sport subjects aren't overwhelming. I don't like base card variations as shortprints. Not that I don't like T206, but it doesn't hold up to Ginter for me.
Ginter for sure... the Bronze card FN killed it for me! it's not horrible just not A&G material, and I was stupid enough to buy a Hobby box of the crap and pulled the Howard NFA-11 Auto out of a blaster? which is worth more then I got out of the hobby box! Grant BTW I think the howard auto is worthy of your previous post about pulling anything remotely decent out of retail. And my 09 heritage black Ichiro refractor came out of a blaster too.
the reason ginter is better is because of the odd ball stuff... particularly the minis such as sharks, mythical creatures, and airplanes... way better than no inserts at all!
Ginter. I haven't seen it in person yet (obviously) but I was underwhelmed by T-206.
I like the T-206 set better simply because it is all about baseball.
T206 for me. Ginter is nice but too many non sports cards for my taste.
best retro design EVER. two (07 and09) of only three sets I am honestly trying to complete
There is also a value issue...I mean in 09, I got 3 relics and an auto out of FOUR blasters while completeing close to half the set...
T-206 is classic, but such a spartan design. I've always kinda liked A&G, and finally took the plunge with the 2009 set. Nice use of color and a varied (without being distracting) checklist. The short prints weren't that short, and the minis are obtainable, except for the two series of five that I won't even try for.
Ginter is way more fun. Baseball cards need fun.
