It's been listed

I'm on the goal line, let's see if I can punch it in. Details hopefully next week. Anybody that has been half paying attention to my blog knows what I am talking about. If you know what card I am talking about please, please just let me have this one. I have seen it happen before when someone is chasing a card and someone with no real interest in it just cocks it up to be a jerk.

You know what, I really like the look of that card. It will burn real well at my "Upper Deck card burning". Just joking.

You better not do anything to piss me off the next 6 or so days or I will really bid the card up and/or win it. So, no defending Upper Deck - in fact I want a post attacking Upper Deck. No attacking Panini - in fact I want a post saying how much you love Panini cards and sticker autographs. And while you are at it, I want a post condemning Tiger Woods for his lack of moral fibre.

Again, just joking. Though this could be fun for the next 6 days.

Good luck winning the auction.

Upper Deck should be asshamed of Sp Signature both basketball and football and throw most of their baseball products in there too.

I love how Panini has found a way to promise worthless hits and to fool people into buying the same product 5 times a year.

Tiger lacks moral fiber and character. He should have handled this Italian Prime Minister style and told everyone that didn't like it to get bent instead of putting his balls in a jar and groveling to the public.

For the most part that is true.

But Upper Deck and Topps also promise worthless hits. Panini is in no way the lone ranger in that regard. The reality is that most "hits" in products aren't worth anywhere near what you pay for the box, whether it is an Upper Deck, Panini or Topps box.

And yes, many of their products are very similar. But I can understand where they are coming from - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Many people like their products, so why not give them what they want? They are just playing things safe. Does it encourage innovation? Of course not, and that is the negative side to it. Of course, if the innovation results in products like UD Black football or Ultimate football (now these had worthless hits considering the huge money people paid), that is probably a good thing.

Panini isn't perfect, there is no argument there.

I just want Panini to put out 1 quality product that rivals SPA, masterpieces, Exquisite (although the on card rookie auto patches in NT 2008 were good), A and G, 2008 mayo, something.

Frankly, there just aren't any panini products I would buy right now.

But yes, UD and Topps have had some shitty, shitty products that are way worse than what Panini has put out.

As I said, almost every BB product UD put out was shit, Black, Ultimate, and Exquisite is right there with crap value and damaged cards.

Topps is love hate. I loved 2008 Mayo, hate Chicle FB, love Chicle Baseball on card, hate the "art", love Murad, hate sterling, tribute, like Unique to a point.

As I've said before, I think we can chalk this down to different tastes.

Personally I think Limited, National Treasures and Certified Materials are all quality products, and have been for a number of years. Absoulte is quite good too, though it's quality has dropped a bit the last 2 years.

In terms of Upper Deck, the only product they had left that I liked was exquisite. I did really like premier and masterpieces, but they were both dropped from football. I've never really liked SP Authentic. To me it's almost totally rookie focused and I have never really collected rookies.

In terms of Topps, I liked this years Mayo (personally I though it was the best set of the year in terms of design), Unique, Platinum, and Finest and Chrome were quite good. Heck, I don't even mind some of the triple threads cards - though only from a singles point of view.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. Now where is that masterpieces patch card to bid on.... just joking.
