This Market report brought to you by me.

Buy Gypsy Queen blasters instead of Hobby until GQ hobby reaches $75. At current prices, you will get 7-8 blasters for the cost of one hobby box.

IMHO, this looks like a one-off, throwaway of a product. Just another excuse to flood the market with mor Gehrig Ruth & Cobb relics (of questionable authenticity mind you). Is it really necessary to put the exact same players on every single checklist? The market is so unbelievably flooded with old timer relics, and HOF autographs right now. It is getting absurd! Ripken autos are selling for like $40 these days. WTF happened to scarcity?

This hobby is getting stupid, and I am reaching my breaking point.

And I didn't even get started on teh gimmickry of this bullshit set. Fucking plastic jewel relics of weird gypsy ladies? WHO GIVES A FUCK TOPPS?

Apologies for the French.

Topps is trying to have as many products that sell like Ginter and Heritage. The HOF stuff really gets to me because I don't need those HOF's in every set.

This set really shows that overproduction has simply been taken in a different direction. For example. If Heritage, Ginter, Lineage, and GQ all have Ed Yost autos /100 that means there are 400of these damn things.

The best example is the Tebow Bradford et al autos. With 15 different panini products and 20 differt auto subsets per release......

Let's put it this way. I am finishing up Masterpieces over the next year or so. I've got Philly and 09 mayo to finish up, probably a case each, maybe 2 philly. I haven't seen any compelling Basketball products...Donruss perhaps, nothing from football..10 magic might be a fun set. Baseball looks like I might just buy mini sets and regular sets. I thought about busting some 06 07 ginter.

In other words, I'm with you.

Welcome to the club, Beardy! I reached my breaking point some time aruond the Strasburg "balloon". Prices became outrageous, and in a rush to meet insatiable demand, Topps seemingly fired their entire quality control department.

We're fortunate that our local shop isn't run by a pirate. He's selling his first shipment with his normal markup - $120 per box - and not marking things up for the sake of marking things up. He had two boxes left. I picked up one and left the other for the next guy.

I actually have no problem with shops charging market rate for a box. That was very nice of the lcs owner to do that.

I am actually thinking of doing an 8 blaster battle royale with a hobby box. I just can't bring myself to plunk down $150 ish for a hobby box.
